Percentage A*: 21 %
Percentage A* to B: 81 %
Percentage A* to C: 94 %

Additional statistics:

  • 229 A* and A grades.
  • 28 boys achieved 2 A*s or better.
  • 52 boys achieved 3 As or better.
  • 6 boys achieved places at Oxford or Cambridge universities.
  • 3 boys achieved places at Imperial College, 5 at the London School of Economics (LSE) and 3 at University College London (UCL).
  • 31 boys achieved the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) including 24 at A*/A.

Headmaster, Duncan Byrne, said: “These are outstanding A Level results that reflect the consistent hard work of our Sixth Formers and the expert guidance of their dedicated teachers. These grades have opened doors to the most competitive university courses in the country, which give the boys the best possible grounding for their future careers.

“What the grades don’t show, however, is the breadth of boys’ contributions to LGS over 7 years or more. The academic achievement of Loughborough Grammar School students is complemented by their excellence in sport, music, drama and in the community service and other activities that have developed their character, so that they leave us ready to play a role as responsible citizens in society.”

Percentage A* to B: 81.4 %
Percentage A* to C: 98.4 %

  • 9 students have 2 or more A*.
  • 5 students gave a ‘clean sweep’ of all A*.
  • 3 Students have 4 A*.
  • 22 students (27.8%) have gained all A/A* in their A levels.
  • 4 students into Cambridge (one 2016 leaver, 3 current students).

 

Head, Gwen Byrom, said: ‘This year, seeing the extensive reforms of the A level system, was always going to be a challenge for students and their teachers.  I am delighted that LHS girls have again gone above and beyond to achieve an excellent set of results which have secured them first-rate university and work places.  They and their families can be very proud of all they have achieved.”

OUR LADY’S CONVENT SCHOOL

Percentage Pass rate: 100%
Percentage A* to A: 29%
Percentage A* to C: 88%

Additional statistics:

The proportion of our A* grades was more than triple that achieved in 2016, and that 29% of grades achieved were A*-A, which is 4% up on last year.

Of our Year 13 students, 27% achieved straight A* and A grades and more than half of them achieved B grades or higher in all their results.

In terms of university destinations, 70% of our students achieved the grades required to get into their first choice of university, and all achieved the grades necessary for their firm or insurance offer.

Dr Julian Murphy, Headmaster, said: “We are delighted with our A Level results for 2017. They are a real testament to the hard work and talent of our students and to the dedicated support they have received from our teaching staff.

“We are at the start of an exciting academic journey and it is pleasing to see that we are already raising the aspirations and results of our most able students whist continuing to provide a nurturing environment for all. I wish them all the best as they embark on the next phase of their life, wherever it may take them.”
