Loughborough Schools Foundation’s Symphonic Wind Band played host to the esteemed RAF College Band at a special concert at Loughborough Grammar School’s Hodson Hall.
The event, held on 24 January, was free for the public to attend and a collection for The RAF Music Charitable Trust raised more than £400.
Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion at Loughborough Schools Foundation, Aidan Geary, said:
“It has long been an ambition of mine to host a concert at LSF with one of the three RAF Bands. The opportunity for our pupils to work with The Band of the RAF College under Sqn Ldr Murray has been such a wonderful experience for them.
“Coupled with the chance to play some amazing film scores, the whole evening was a delight. We are very grateful to the RAF for fitting this concert into their busy schedule and I am delighted to further cement our relationship with the RAF Music Service.”
Loughborough Schools Music, which possesses the prestigious All-Steinway School status, is also hosting a series of competitions for aspiring young musicians to demonstrate their skills in front of a music specialist and earn the chance to perform at the Foundation’s Al Fresco celebration on 7 July.
