Maiyango founder launches brand new concept restaurant in Leicester

The team behind Maiyango returns to the Leicester city centre dining scene with the launch of a very different and rather spiffing/British new concept on 17 August 2017.

‘The Fish and The Chip’ will seat up to 80 diners and will be serving meals including lobster and skinny fries, a surf and turf burger and of course, fish and chips, as well as drinks and a whole new cocktail offering.

The AA rosette Maiyango Restaurant closed in July and the new restaurant will be located on the site of the previous restaurant on St Nicholas Place, in Jubilee Square. The opening of The Fish and The Chip has created seven new part-time and full-time positions.

Aatin Anadkat, founder of the Maiyango Brand said: “We’re very excited about this new concept for Leicester diners. We saw a gap in the local market and a bit like Maiyango 12 years ago, set out to create something different and original.

“Although the concept will seem alien when compared to our high end fine dining past, we have been able to create something nostalgic, fun and welcoming and have taken what we know about food, drink and hospitality and applied it to make The Fish & The Chip a brilliant experience!

“The interior and exterior of the new restaurant are looking fabulous and unrecognisable from Maiyango, however our attention to detail still remains. As people will see when they arrive, from the Union Jack frontage to our position in Jubilee Square and the food that we’ll be serving, we’re fully committed to great British food and hospitality.”

Hotel Maiyango and the Tasting Room continue to trade as usual.

“The Union Jack frontage for our launch has been specially created to celebrate the fact that we are serving great British food. We thought it was the perfect way to let everyone know and also do something iconic for Leicester. We are proud to be a Leicester brand and also a British brand and for us, the Union Jack on Jubilee Square with the red post box outside tells a lovely story!” added Aatin.
