A rainy Monday evening, what better time to try the new Festive Feast menu at Mowgli. Seeing refuge on the famed swing chairs by the window, outside, the streets were quiet, as sleet drove commuters home. But inside, Mowgli’s signature warm, wood-toned interior and soft white lighting created a cocoon of calm aided by a playlist of nostalgic indie pop and classics like The Mamas and The Papas, which helped create an ambiance that was intimate and comforting.

Our journey began with champagne served in beautiful glasses, accented by fresh raspberries—a fine touch that elevated the evening. For starters, the Chat Bombs were playful and exciting. We were warned to eat them whole, lest their vibrant mix of yogurt, chickpea, and tamarind spill out. Their cool, spicy burst set the tone for a meal filled with bold flavours. The Gunpowder Chicken stood out, smoky and tender, its flavours elevated by the mint base—a dish so delightful that we hesitated to let it leave the table.

On the drinks front, the Masala Espresso Martini was a revelation, outshining other versions with its warming spice, while the Rose & Raspberry G&T was light and refreshing.

For mains, Mowgli’s Worker’s Tiffin delivered variety and intrigue. Served in the traditional Indian stacker trays, it included highlights like the Coconut Chicken Curry—rich and creamy—and Sweet Peas with Paneer, a subtly sweet and hearty dish. The Tamarind Sticky Chicken offered a tangy, tender counterpoint, while the Monkey Chicken Wrap provided a light, healthy option tossed with chutneys and pomegranate seeds. The Fenugreek Potatoes acted like a re-setting palate-cleanser – a bit like sniffing coffee beans between perfumes. Meanwhile, the Cheese Toast was indulgent and spicy, a perfect marriage of Indian spices and comforting textures.

Portions were generous, leaving us with enough for a second feast at home. However, dessert was non-negotiable. The Mowgli Brownie—warm, gooey, and served with vanilla ice cream—was decadence personified. The Mango Sorbet Cone was equally delightful, offering a lighter, refreshing end to the meal, though a bowl might have been a more practical serving choice.

Throughout the evening, the staff were attentive without being overbearing, pre-empting our needs and ensuring a relaxed experience. We ended with chai served in a teapot, its spiced milk blending warmth and nostalgia.

Mowgli Christmas Feasting Menu delivers tremendous value at £35, including a starter, mains, dessert, and a drink.

From its Instagram-worthy interior to its innovative yet crowd-pleasing food, it’s an experience that bridges festive indulgence and comfort. Whether for a date or a celebration with friends, this is Indian street food at its best—vibrant, communal, and utterly satisfying.  We can’t wait to return.
