“Crisis”, “cuts”, “cash-strapped”; just a few of the words usually associated with the Social Care Sector. It’s easy to worry about the fate of vulnerable people in our community, but underneath the cloud of austerity there are organisations working hard to enable people with support needs to achieve comfortable, independent, fulfilling lives.
Creative Support is a not-for-profit provider of social care services supporting around 7500 adults across England with mental health needs, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and other needs.
Founded over 25 years ago, Creative Support have been supporting vulnerable people in Leicestershire since 2010. This ranges from 24hr 1:1 support for service users with high needs, to short term preventative support. Their key aims are to ensure that the people they support remain safe and well, have access to activities, maintain their tenancies, reduce their debts, and find employment.
This year, Creative Support have been awarded council contracts to expand in Leicestershire, providing support for more of the area’s vulnerable people, and providing interesting and rewarding support worker jobs and senior positons for local people.
