A collection of new artworks from artists based in the UK and Europe launches Black History Month at Leicester Gallery, De Montfort University this week. Responding to the theme of resilience, a word that can define the Black experience as well as the events so far of 2020, the exhibition covers photography, film, illustration, manga, comic art and visual art with new work from Ade Coker, Tolu Coker, Stephen Anthony Davids, Shagomola Edunjobi, Patricia Vester and Ana Paz.
Pawlet Brookes, CEO and Artistic Director of Serendipity said; “The word ‘resilience’ will have a resonance with everyone due to the ongoing events we’re all experiencing in 2020. Working with the team at Serendipity, Leicester Gallery and each artist I’m incredibly proud that we are able to stage this socially important exhibition and give the opportunity for the public to explore this theme further though illustration, visual art, poetry, film and photography.”
Resilience runs until 31 October 2020 at Leicester Gallery, De Montfort University, and is open to all to attend.
