Leading shopping and leisure destination Highcross is gearing up for the arrival of an exciting new indoor bouldering centre, Social Climbing.
The opening will mark the brand’s all-important first opening in the UK when it opens in Leicester this Summer.
Shoppers will soon be able to enjoy a unique and sociable way of exercising at Highcross. The new indoor activity centre will be located on the ground floor alongside Debenhams, and will be the first of its kind in the country.
Its unique features include a head-to-head wall in which climbers can challenge one another, and a ‘leap of faith’ descent. The centre will also offer a leisure space consisting of a café and a living room area, whilst offering visitors monthly movie nights to enjoy together.
Social Climbing will occupy a 6,800 sq. ft. space on East Bond Street.
Jo Tallack, General Manager at Highcross, commented: “We’re really excited to welcome Social Climbing into Highcross, as we continue to improve and increase our leisure offering in centre. The new opening will offer shoppers an alternative to traditional exercise routines and we hope it will appeal to our shoppers who want something a little bit different.”
Social Climbing, added: “We couldn’t have dreamt up a more exciting first location for Social Climbing than Highcross. It’s right in the heart of the city and we’re hoping that the convenience factor will attract more climbing newbies into the brand. Our 45m long front window will be particularly cool; you’ll be able to watch our customers hanging off the wall whilst you wait for the bus outside or amble into Debenhams next-door.”
