Tigers legends grilled at special BBQ event: Hoggy’s Grill presents… An Evening with Geordan Murphy & Martin Corry

Leicester Tigers legends Martin Corry and Geordan Murphy will be visiting Hoggy’s Grill – a BBQ school run by ex-England cricketer Matthew Hoggard – for a night of sporting banter and BBQ.

A must for Rugby fans, Cricket fans and food-lovers alike, these sporting giants will rustle up some food, embark on a debrief of the Guinness Six Nations and answer all those questions you’ve always wanted to ask in a Q&A session to finish off the evening.

Taking place on Thursday 21st April from 6.30pm, the event is not only a chance to get up close and personal with sporting superstars, but also a great opportunity to brush up on your barbecue skills ahead of the summer.

Hoggy’s Grill, based in a stunning location overlooking Rutland Water, is a purpose built grill school run by ex-England international cricketer Matthew Hoggard and his wife, Sarah. Matthew discovered the joys of BBQ food while training as a young cricketer in South Africa, and his interest in cooking never left him. Upon retiring from playing, Matthew spent seven years learning the art of grilling from BBQ chefs around the world, experimenting with different grills and fuel sources – grilling became a daily occurrence!

“Barbecuing is a big passion of mine – I do it all year round,” he said. “I want people to feel confident cooking and enjoying food al fresco throughout the year. Outdoor cooking doesn’t have to mean burgers and sausages – there’s so much variety and flavour to the food that can be cooked on the barbecue. I’ve been known to cook Yorkshire puddings on the grill, and even our Christmas Dinner has been cooked al fresco – the potential is endless!”

The school offers a variety of packages for customers to try, from traditional barbecue fare in their burger classes to flexible three course menus including tomahawk steaks, beer can chicken, seafood feasts and veggie extravaganzas. Guests can also buy what they try, with a variety of BBQs and equipment along with specialty BBQ rubs giving guests the chance to continue honing their al fresco cooking skills at home.

April’s event is one of a series of evenings featuring special guests at the grill – keep an eye on Hoggy’s Grill website and social media for more information. Numbers are strictly limited with advance ticket purchase required. Tickets include a welcome pint of Guinness and handmade smash burgers with all the trimmings, and a paid bar will be available.
