Youngsters wanted for De Montfort Hall’s ‘beauty’ of a show this Christmas.

Young dancers from Leicestershire will have the chance to prove they can be the ‘belle’ of the ball on Sunday 18 June when De Montfort Hall holds open auditions for its pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.

The team are looking for children aged between nine and sixteen to be part of the Junior Chorus for this year’s spectacular family pantomime which opens on Saturday 16 December.

Those children who are successful in gaining a place in the show will be starring alongside Richard ‘Dick’ McCourt from children’s TV show Dick & Dom, X Factor winner Sam Bailey, Heartbeat’s David Lonsdale and Leicester’s favourite Dame Martin Ballard, from BBC Radio Leicester.

Antony Flint, De Montfort Hall general manager, said “This is a great opportunity for members of the local community to get involved with the panto and gives any child who wants to be part of the panto the opportunity to do so.”

For any youngster who is thinking that the entertainment business might be for them, this is a great chance to work on a professional production and get a feel for exactly what it is like. Live theatre is a lot of hard work but great fun as well.”

“We had over 100 children audition last year and we are expecting the same this year, if not more. There will be tough competition on the day but I’m confident we’ll get a team of great dancers to work with our brilliant cast and crew – and have fun in doing so.”

Application forms and more information on the auditions can be downloaded from www.demontforthall.co.uk. The application forms do not need to be submitted in advance and will also be available on the day if required, although where possible please complete them beforehand and bring with you to save time on audition day.

Beauty and the Beast runs from Saturday 16 December 2017 until Sunday 7 January 2018.

Tickets are already on sale and with the panto breaking box office records last year we advise people to book as early as possible for this ‘beauty’ of a show.
