There is a chance to see a screening of rare archive films charting the history of the UK’s railways at QUAD, Derby, in January.
Britain on Film: Railways is a new collection of short films charting the romance and freedoms offered by train travel as it expanded across the country in the early 20th century. Sourced and digitised from the national and regional archives, Britain on Film: Railways is a nostalgic and evocative collection of films which document not just the glories of the railway, but the changing social, political and economic climates of the 20th century. Britain On Film: Railways is a chance to travel back to a time when travelling by rail was comfortable, punctual and even glamorous!
Britain On Film: Railways (certificate U) screens at QUAD on Sunday 15th January at 4:15pm and Tuesday 17th January at 6:30pm. The programme has an approximate running time of 95 minutes and contains a sequence of flashing lights which might affect those with photosensitive epilepsy. Tickets are £8.20 or £7.00 concessions
