How to Throw an Eggstraordinary Easter Egg Hunt

If the past year has taught us anything, it’s not to take the little things for granted. Events and activities that may have passed by without much fuss previously, are now a big focus in our calendars. Especially where kids are involved – anything to entertain them, right? Enter – the humble Easter Egg hunt.

So why not take it up a notch this year? Just follow our top tips to creating an incredible DIY egg hunt – and hopefully it’ll allow you a little bit of time to relax this Easter…

Make it Special

When choosing what you’re going hide for your children, go for chocolate Easter eggs that are a little bit different and special to really elevate the experience – and maximise their excitement! From chocolate bunny lollies to a dinosaur egg, build the anticipation by starting small and building up to a final, extra special egg.

Create a Treasure Map

Keep them focused with a treasure map to guide them to the eggs – it can include clues from the Easter Bunny and doodles that lead your little one on a route around your house or garden. You’ll be able to control the chaos and the kids will love a bit of help from the Bunny.

Get Crafty!

We’re not saying you have to go all-out Blue Peter here, but why not head to a craft shop and buy a few little bits to make your hunt unique? It need not be extravagant, but you could get (washable!) pavement chalk for drawing arrows, hanging egg decorations and even little signs – all of which are sure to help make an unforgettable Easter.

Use Props

Make use of what you’ve got around the house. Your child will love it if their favourite teddy is hiding one of the eggs. Or maybe one’s in their pram, cup or hat. If it’s a warm day, keep them in the fridge until the last minute and go for individually wrapped eggs to avoid smears of chocolate everywhere…

Get Loved Ones Involved

If you can’t be with loved ones this Easter, get them involved over video call. They could dish out an all-important clue and cheer your little one/s on as they find their treasure. A big win for all camps.

Teach Them About Easter

If you’ve got slightly older children, use this opportunity to teach them about Easter – what is it? Why do we have Easter eggs and who is the Easter Bunny? You could create a short quiz, with correct answers leading them to treats.

There you have it – a few little pointers to help make your Easter Egg hunt unforgettable. The extra effort will be worth it to see their smiley, chocolate-covered faces. Oh, and in case you need reminding (we certainly do) – this year, Easter Sunday is 4th April – so here’s hoping for a bit of sunny weather.
