SUNDAYS ARE ABOUT TO GET SICKENING; ARE YOU READY TO SHABLAM!?
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist and fan favourite, Michael Marouli, has been announced as the headline act for a brand-new matinee entertainment extravaganza for the East Midlands, Shablam! On Sundays, brought to you by Saul Morgan and Laura Wood, two of the team behind Groovebox Nottingham Pride Festival, and to be held at Nottingham’s iconic outdoor arena, Binks Yard.
Shablam! on Sundays will bring together International superstars of RuPaul’s Drag Race with the biggest and best regional drag stars to make your Sunday afternoons sickening with the first event taking place on Sunday 12th May at Nottingham’s stunning outdoor and all-accessible Binks Yard.
Headliner Michael Marouli, who came 2nd in the latest series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK will be joined by a cast of amazing local Drag performers including Marilyn Sane, Nana Arthole, Vayne, Kenya Knott and Liv Presents who promise an afternoon of lip-synching mayhem, amazing live vocals, proper laughs, killer choreography and post-show disco courtesy of Groovebox and Sanctuary resident DJ Cookii Shakes.
Michael Marouli said: “I am so excited to be the very first queen performing at this incredible new event in Nottingham. It’s gonna be iconic, it’s gonna be epic, it’s gonna be everything!”
Superfans can take advantage of a limited number of VIP tickets that not only include priority queue jump, access to a swanky seated area of Binks Yard with table service but also an exclusive Meet and Greet with Michael Marouli before the show.
Following the overwhelming success of the Groovebox Pride event at Binks Yard, Saul Morgan & Laura Wood, two of the team that launched the landmark event were keen to introduce more LGBTQ+ events to the city on a regular basis, hence the creation of Shablam! on Sundays.
Saul Morgan, who has also worked on projects with Jessie Ware and Idris Elba, commented: “The response we got to the Pride event was really overwhelming and it got us thinking that there was a market for large-scale events and entertainment for Nottingham and the East Midlands Queer community, so I got on the phone to a few of my contacts and Shablam! Here it is!”
It is hoped that Shablam! on Sundays will become a regular fixture in the calendar as part of a suite of events created specifically for the East Midlands Queer community including the upcoming Groovebox Nottingham Pride @ Binks Yard on the 27th July with Gok Wan, H from Steps and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Tomara Thomas.
Shablam! on Sundays is open to audiences 16+ and fully accessible for wheelchair users to ensure that everyone is included in the fun. Tickets cost from just £20 to £50 for the VIP meet and greet and are available to buy from https://www.skiddle.com/g/Shablam-on-sundays/
