Loughborough is set to host its first-ever official LGBTQ Pride celebration, a landmark event created by the community for the community. The event, organized by the team behind ‘OUT in Loughborough,’ a local LGBTQ social group, aims to celebrate the town’s inclusivity and vibrant spirit.
What’s the BIG Idea?
The inaugural Loughborough Pride will take place on Saturday, 17th August 2024, from 6pm until late.
This celebration will transform four queer-friendly spaces in and around Wards End into Loughborough’s first-ever ‘Queer Quarter.’
The event will feature free, live entertainment throughout the evening, showcasing some of the county’s most exciting talents, including singers, drag artists, lip-synch performers, dancers and DJs. There will also be representatives from various community LGBTQI groups.
“As residents of Loughborough and Charnwood, we love that Loughborough is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place to live, work, study, and socialise. And we want to celebrate that,” says Jonathan Fraser, Chair of the Loughborough Pride committee.
“We want to build a legacy for Loughborough and create an evolving annual event that will become a highlight of the Charnwood calendar.”
Loughborough Pride is being brought to life by a team of unpaid volunteers – united in wanting to promote positive change in the town they love and live. Their vision is to create a wonderful and inclusive community event that will grow and expand in the future, celebrating the diversity of this university town and its surrounding county.
