A new online community has been launched by a 26-year-old man from Birmingham.
Brothers United By Bravery (BUBB) is an Instagram community which helps to raise awareness of men’s mental health and raise money for related charities supporting those struggling with their own emotional well-being.
Matt Bubb has also launched a line of limited edition BUBB unisex t-shirts in three different colours, with proceeds going to the charity CALM.
The funds will also help Matt to host events for men’s mental health awareness and bring the community together in the future.
CALM – Campaign Against Living Miserably – is a charity and helpline for suicide prevention, founded in 1997.
Matt said: “The number of male suicides in the UK is increasing year on year, and last year, two of them were close friends of mine. BUBB is on a simple mission – to raise more awareness around [mens] mental health and to form a safe community for all. Over the last 12 months, I’ve been giving talks about this subject and my own personal experiences, and I found that this resonated with lots of people in the same position either struggling themselves or knowing someone on a similar journey so I wanted to do more.
“All I want to do is get people talking and this is just the start. In the future my dream is to make even more noise and host large-scale events to get everyone together to talk and support one another.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve had on my mission so far. I couldn’t have done this without the help from my colleagues, friends and family. Coming from a marketing background has meant enormous support from people in the industry giving up their time to create the website and our assets and for this I’m really grateful.”
