New Taste the Place Tourism Campaign Launches in Leicester and Leicestershire

The new campaign promotes the area’s award-winning traditional tastes, world cuisine, sustainable, and vegan food and drink offerings for visitors to the city and county.

Visit Leicester has launched the new ‘Taste the Place’ to promote all of the unique food and drink that’s on offer for visitors to Leicester and Leicestershire. There will be a focus on the themes of ‘A Taste of England’, ‘The World on a Plate’, ‘Food for Thought’ and ‘The Home of Veganism’.

Taste the Place will showcase the best, local independent producers, restaurants, cafes, delis, farm shops, pubs, food festivals and more to highlight the breadth and diversity of the local food and drink on offer. Visitors to the region will be able to see the variety of places where they can eat, drink, buy, see in production and experience the very best through a range of activities and events.

Visitors will be supported by a range of items during the campaign including:

  • A new food and drink event calendar
  • ‘Taste Adventures in Leicester & Leicestershire’ (itineraries, trails and interactive maps promoting the best food and drink independents in an area)
  • Pub Walks for Foodies (curated one-hour walks from some of the best independent pubs)
  • Pick Up and Picnic (suggestions of where to buy locally-sourced food in farm shops, markets and delis, with suggestions of the best local picnic spots in which to eat it)
  • A new City Restaurant Trail
  • Leicester Curry Diploma to highlight key dishes that diners are likely to encounter on a menu in Leicester
