Hoar Cross Hotel is situated just outside Burton upon Trent and sits in 50 acres of beautiful woodland. The scenery and drive to the hotel and spa is just breath taking and once you arrive on site the Grade II listed stately home sits magnificently in the manicured gardens.
As soon as we arrived the wonderfully friendly staff made us feel instantly at home and relaxed. We were offered a guided tour and given our spa passes and hotel keys. As the room was not ready to be occupied we headed straight for the spa. The spa is situated below the main hotel and as we entered a whole atmosphere of calm surrounded us.
After slipping into our robes we headed for the hydrotherapy and salt water pools. Both are surrounded by very comfy loungers and have Jacuzzi’s, steam rooms and sauna’s to just sit back and unwind in. The Nordic Heat and Ice Suite is the newest addition to the spa and if you are brave enough you can partake in the Scandinavian spa rituals.
From soothing water therapies to aqua detox and sensory showers the spa is a beautiful place to relax, rejuvenate and cleanse your body and mind. There are a wide range of treatments on offer and our luxury back massage made us gently drift off to sleep.
Lunch was served in Hugo’s restaurant and was delicious. Using freshly sourced produce with a large help yourself salad bar it set us up for more relaxation to come.
Hoar Cross state of the art gym offers a daily programme of fitness and relaxation classes meaning that there really is something for everyone. There is a wide range of cardiovascular and resistance equipment to give a total body workout. You can also realign the body and mind with relaxation classes, which include yoga, tai chi and Pilates. There is also a brilliant range of outdoor activities, perfect for keeping fit and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful grounds.
Dinner was served in the ballroom and again the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they even offered us gluten free options on all their courses. The food was obviously created using the finest ingredients including locally sourced produce where available.
We were then lucky enough to have an overnight stay in one of the magnificent luxury rooms complete with a whirlpool bath. Where better to spend the evening dreaming of the blissful day that we had just encountered.
Hoar Cross Hall is a wonderful place to relax and unwind at any time of year but during the hectic Christmas period it felt extremely decadent. Gift vouchers are available and would make a great gift idea at any time of the year.
