⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The iconic international West End and Broadway smash-hit musical comedy Legally Blonde The Musical is back in fashion, and its huge new Made at Curve production has absolutely taken Leicester by storm. This ultimate feel-good rom-com proves that sometimes, a little bit of pink can change everything.

Based on the award-winning film starring Reese Witherspoon (a firm favourite of this particular reviewer), the show follows Elle Woods on her glittering transformation from ‘It Girl’ fashionista to legal ace at Harvard Law School – all in the name of love. Along the way, Elle learns to swap the changing rooms for the courtroom, challenge every expectation placed upon her, and discover that being true to yourself never goes out of style. It’s a message that lands with warmth, wit, and sparkle.

The whole cast were on electric form. Vocals were consistently on point, the choreography was razor-sharp, and the wit and humour fizzed throughout the performance, keeping the audience laughing and cheering in equal measure. Amber Davies was a fantastic Elle – charming, vulnerable, and powerhouse when it counted (not to mention her array of fabulous costume changes!) Special mention absolutely has to go to Karen Mavundukure as Paulette, who was funny, sassy, and delivered knockout vocals that earned some of the biggest cheers of the night.

And it would be remiss not to also mention two scene-stealers with four legs: Sprout and Milo as Bruiser and Rufus. Ten out of ten performances from both – no notes!

Unsurprisingly, the show is almost completely sold out for its run at Curve. That said, it’s still worth calling or emailing the box office to be added to the reserve list if you’re hoping to snag a last-minute seat. The production runs in Leicester until Saturday 21st February, before heading out on tour around the UK.

All in all, this Made at Curve production of Legally Blonde The Musical is a joyous, high-energy reminder that confidence, kindness, and a killer soundtrack can go a long way – and that, truly, being yourself never goes out of style.
