Edinburgh is a hilly capital city known for its iconic castle and the street that inspired the magic of wizards. Here, you can experience vibrant city life while also having easy access to the great outdoors. This city is home to writers, creatives, and innovators, as well as a rich history of intriguing characters. It’s the perfect destination for a long weekend getaway.

Edinburgh is an exciting city full of history, culture, and shopping opportunities. With its cobbled streets, it is one of the most intriguing cities, brimming with charming pubs, restaurants, and shops. You can stroll through the historic Old Town and along the Royal Mile to reach Edinburgh Castle, which houses Scotland’s Crown Jewels. After exploring the castle, you can head back down the road to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, taking in the mix of architectural styles along the way.

Alternatively, you can take an underground tour in The Real Mary King’s Close or bring history to life at The National Museum of Scotland. Meanwhile, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery represents famous Scottish figures throughout history. Scotland is also the home of many writers past and present, so if you are in Edinburgh, be sure to check out the Writers’ Museum.

Victoria Street, one of the most photographed streets in the city, is lined with multicoloured shops curving upwards and said to be the inspiration for JK Rowling’s Diagon Alley. Harry Potter fans will adore Museum Context, a shop officially licensed to sell official merchandise with dusty boxes in nooks and crannies.

The great outdoors at the edge of the city
