Escape to the delightful Brit..(ish) island of Jersey; only 80 minutes on a plane from Birmingham!
The Atlantic Hotel is a dreamy coastal hideaway situated on one of the most stunning sites in the Channel Islands. In less travel time than it takes you to escape to the nearest beach in Birmingham; explore the beautiful island of Jersey.
This place feels like a complete world away from the UK; with an outdoor pool for you to bask beside during the summer months and a stunning beach minutes away. The 1930s exterior delivers a warmth that runs through the hospitality too. It’s no surprise that this place has many repeat visitors, attracted by its spectacular views, 4 AA Rosettes dining and friendly staff.
Location and Surroundings
The hotel is located by the picturesque coastal area of St Ouen’s Bay – it’s no surprise that this will hugely appeal to potential visitors. Just 8 minutes away from Jersey Airport, it’s an easy and efficient transfer so you can get your holiday underway the moment you step off the plane.
If you want to explore Jersey then there’s so much on offer on this nine miles by five island. Although the weather was not on our side during our visit – Jersey has a wealth of fun things to do if you are just heading there for a weekend (or an extended break!) Some of their top attractions include the Jersey War Tunnels and the Elizabeth Castle which enabled us to get a sample of the island’s heritage. Whilst we visited Jersey we got a flavour of the capital city, Saint Helier where we enjoyed exploring the markets and food from independent restaurants. Although like us you’ll probably want to book a second trip *just* to be able to explore even more of what it has to offer.
However, The Atlantic Hotel is beautiful enough that if you prefer a weekend to relax – then this is absolutely the place you need to visit!
Guest Bedrooms
After the quickest of check-ins, we headed to our Ocean View room. A very spacious and light space, this room provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. All of the mod cons are available including a flat-screen TV, complimentary WiFi and tea and coffee making facilities. The Ocean View room comes with a seated area and patio-style sliding doors enabling you to get that sea air that makes everyone feel good.
The balcony itself is small but still gives you an exceptional view over the outdoor swimming pool and towards the sea. I can imagine this is quite something in the warmer months!
In the bathroom is a deep bathtub, fluffy bathrobes and slippers as well as Molton Brown toiletries which are well stocked for your visit.
Facilities
The Atlantic Hotel has some great facilities on its site. The Palm Club has an indoor paul with a jacuzzi, a small gym and a sauna. Outside there is the luxury of an outdoor pool in the warmer months. The bar area in the hotel is intimate but cosy – a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a drink before/after your dinner.
Food
On-site the hotel has Ocean Restaurant. Having held a Michelin star for ten years in a row, you can tell that this is something this location prides itself on and it delivered during our stay. The chef showcases modern British cooking in a classic setting with an emphasis on fresh Jersey produce. The attention to detail is exceptional. We sampled food we hadn’t tried before like the Pickled Jersey crab. Coconut and celeriac panna cotta, tomato and basil essence, sweet and sour celeriac; this dish went down a storm! My partner thoroughly enjoyed the Roast Guinea Fowl Breast whilst I enjoyed the freshness of their Grilled sea bream fillet.
Price point
Step into Spring at The Atlantic Hotel and enjoy a stay from £280 per person. Choose their half board package and enjoy a three-course dinner in our award-winning Ocean Restaurant on each night or, for a more flexible dining option, opt for the bed and breakfast package which includes one free dinner.
Final verdict
If you’ve never visited Jersey and you are looking for a weekend getaway – I’d highly recommend The Atlantic Hotel. We didn’t want to come home, we had such a fulfilling and enjoyable experience from start to finish. The fact that we could reach the bay from a short walk from the hotel was idyllic and the location is brilliant to get the best out of this place.
