{"id":25704,"date":"2019-07-01T13:58:01","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T12:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/?p=25704"},"modified":"2019-06-28T14:00:05","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T13:00:05","slug":"buckingham-palace-hope-against-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/leicester-2\/buckingham-palace-hope-against-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Hope Against Cancer Volunteer Chosen To Visit Buckingham Palace."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year Leicester cancer research charity, Hope Against Cancer, receive a free place to visit Buckingham Palace and potentially meet the royals, this place is granted to a different Hope volunteer each time.<\/p>\n<p>This year Anne Goadby was selected and attended with her husband David. Anne who lives in Wigston, Leicestershire, decided to get involved with a charity when she retired.<\/p>\n<p>Anne who has a background of working in nursing, has worked within the Leicestershire community as a health visitor and wanted to continue helping others. She has provided so much support and commitment to the Hope Against Cancer team who heavily rely on volunteers. After speaking to Tracey Hallam, who is the Corporate and Events Fundraiser, she felt that Hope Against Cancer was the charity she wanted to devote her time in helping, she has now been volunteering for Hope for two years.<\/p>\n<p>On the 15<sup>th<\/sup> May, Anne arrived at Buckingham Palace where the day consisted of walking around Hyde Park, Grosvenor Square, the Palace Gates and Gardens. Later in the day, they were treated to afternoon tea whilst two military bands played in a marquee. Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Anne made an appearance on the terrace of the palace whilst the national anthem was playing. Some guests even had the opportunity to be introduced to Prince Charles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-25707 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Anne-David-Goadby-7-600x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Anne-David-Goadby-7-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Anne-David-Goadby-7-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Anne-David-Goadby-7-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dluxe-magazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Anne-David-Goadby-7.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After her visit to the palace, Anne said: \u201cI felt very humbled to have this opportunity handed to me, it was such a wonderful event. I love volunteering for Hope because I get to meet so many inspirational people and I get to learn so much about the progression being made within cancer research at the Hope Clinical Trials Facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The volunteers at Hope Against Cancer help to raise funds to continue the support towards its vital, life-saving local research.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to find out more
