Belgrade Plaza welcomed young budding artists for a weekend of free art workshops and fun on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th August.

As Coventry’s UK City of Culture 2021 event schedule continues throughout the summer, Belgrade Plaza joined in the celebrations with three City of Culture themed colouring walls featuring Coventry’s famous skyline.

Over 165 children visited the Creative Kids Weekender where they were able to grab a canvas and create their own masterpiece to take home using colouring pencils and pens.

The City of Culture colouring walls are being proudly displayed in Belgrade Theatre’s exhibition space until Friday 20th August.

After seeing the event online one parent walked into town to take part in the event, they said “My daughter was so excited to help to colour in the colouring wall, it’s been nice to have free activities on our doorstep during the holidays!”

One visitor was pleased that events were back in Belgrade Plaza, “I’ve brought the kids to a few family events at Belgrade Plaza over the years, it’s so nice to be back and to give them something to look forward to.”

This was the first in a series of events to celebrate Coventry City of Culture at Belgrade Plaza throughout the year, so make sure to keep an eye out on our social media pages and website for updates.

If you’re looking for a family friendly event this weekend, Belgrade Theatre are hosting Fusion 21 this Sunday 15th August. This FREE outdoor music and creative arts event is taking place at Belgrade Plaza from 12 noon until 3pm.

Expect a programme packed with some of the best regional music around and BBC Introducing host, Brody Swain, presenting the live broadcast with interviews and backstage news and gossip!
