A Day of Music, Dance, and Delights

An array of South Asian arts and Indian cultural entertainment will take over Leicester city centre on Sunday 20 August as Mela Festival returns.

Activities include children’s ride by Billy Bates, arts and crafts at Leicester Museum, a climbing wall, and a life-sized elephant parade in the City Centre.

Leicester Market will be the vibrant venue for an immensely popular Indian shopping bazaar, including various stalls with clothing and jewellery. The Mela food court will be offering delicious food from the subcontinent, like authentic Indian tea, fresh coconuts, kulfi ice cream, and refreshing sugar cane juices.

The main entertainment stage on Humberstone Gate this year will provide a platform for talented performers. Sabras Radio Road Show will be celebrating 28 years of Broadcast Excellence with Sona Walia as their headline artist, supported by Daljit Mattu.

An international touch comes from the Rajasthan brass band, infusing the event with vibrant rhythms. Bollywood enthusiasts can enjoy Punjeet & Judy’s dynamic performances, adding glamour.
