New Fit Pregnancy Classes Launch in Market Harborough

New Fit Pregnancy Classes Launch in Market Harborough

During pregnancy a woman’s body undergoes significant changes and many individuals become increasingly concerned about strains upon their body. Now, expectant mothers in South Leicestershire can sign up to a new series of Fit Pregnancy classes, to keep both mother & baby healthy throughout all trimesters.

Birth & Beyond Fitness will hold the weekly sessions every Saturday in Great Oxendon, Market Harborough and newly expectant mothers can sign up now to guarantee their place and trial a free class. The classes are perfect to keep yourself and baby healthy during pregnancy by strengthening the keys parts of the body to feel good throughout all trimesters, in turn preparing you for labour and birth. Classes include elements of pilates and yoga along with moderate exercise and each class finishes with a prenatal stretch, to relax the body and aid relaxation, followed by a pregnancy informative chat at the end.

Alongside the exercise, the classes also create the opportunity to learn about your female biomechanics (anatomy) specifically your pelvic floor and the body’s changes occurring during pregnancy, from your breathing to your tummy muscles, with advice on what things to avoid and encourage. Not to mention creating friendships too, with the chance to discuss your pregnancy experiences each week.

Versha Patel, who runs Birth & Beyond Fitness in Leicester, has specialised in pre and post-natal health and fitness for a number of years and currently holds classes, group and individual training sessions with expectant and recent mums in Leicester.

Versha commented, “The Fit Pregnancy classes cover such an important period in a woman’s life, one where you’re experiencing so many physical changes and receive conflicting opinions on what exercise you should be undertaking. These classes are designed to work with each individual, understand what is safe and why during each trimester and build your confidence about exercising and it’s benefits for you and your new baby.”

“Of course, as well as getting to meet other new mums and learn about your own fit pregnancy journey, exercise also releases plenty of happy hormones, which can transform your experience and help you to feel amazing in your ever changing body. The classes have been so popular and welcomed in Leicester that we’ve been keen to expand to other areas of the county”

Fit Pregnancy classes are suitable for all fitness levels and all trimesters, so long as your midwife has not advised you against exercise. Individuals should have had their first scan and complete a full online screening through the website before commencing classes. This is to ensure the class is suitable and that each individual’s needs can be accommodated in the class.

Fit Pregnancy courses will launch in Great Oxendon Parish Hall (a beautiful / recently refurbished village hall) from Saturday 15th September 2018 – this first class is a free trial class for all that wish to try the class out to see if they like it and it’s suitability. The class is a course of 8 weeks thereafter starting from the 22nd September.

Individuals can sign up now to sample their first class for free at

Fit Pregnancy classes also continue to be held on a weekly basis in Clarendon Park, LE2.
