Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is delighted to announce the return of its prestigious VAL Awards for the fourth year. This much-anticipated event will take place on Friday 18 October 2024 at the elegant Grand Hotel, Leicester, with nominations now open.
This year’s awards, which are supported by Hastings Direct as headline sponsor, will honour those who have continued to be the backbone of numerous volunteer and charity initiatives in the past year, providing essential support and services that have touched countless lives.
The VAL Awards, originally established in 2019, celebrate the incredible contributions made by the sector across Leicester and Leicestershire. This year’s event promises to be another memorable evening dedicated to acknowledging the tireless work of volunteers and community heroes who selflessly give their time and energy to make a positive impact on the lives of others across our city and county.

Anyone can nominate and be nominated, so everyone is invited to get involved and submit a nomination in the following award categories:

- Social Enterprise of the Year – sponsored by Leicester University Business School/Community Enterprise Engine/CASE
- Volunteer Led Organisation of the Year
- Trustee of the Year

- Kathryn Burgess Volunteer of the Year – sponsored by Aspire Pharma
- Inspiring Leader of the Year – sponsored by Belgrave Neighbourhood Co-Operative
- Charity & Business Partnership of the Year – sponsored by PPL PRS

- The Kevan Liles Award (Lifetime Achievement Award) – Sponsored by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire
This is a chance to recognise those individuals, teams, and organisations that have made an outstanding difference in communities over the past twelve months. It is an opportunity to nominate any individual or charitable/voluntary organisation that you know is making a real, positive contribution to life in Leicester and Leicestershire.

You’ll find all the information you need, including award descriptions and the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday 31 July 2024, so don’t miss the opportunity to honour those who deserve recognition.
Join VAL at the Awards Ceremony
The ticketed event will be held on Friday 18 October in The King’s Hall at Leicester’s The Grand Hotel. The awards are made possible by the generous support of local businesses, which include headline sponsor, Hastings Direct. Confirmed category sponsors include PPL PRS, Leicester University Business School, Aspire Pharma and Belgrave Neighbourhood Co-Operative. At the time of issue, selected category sponsorships are still available. Monies raised allow the event to run without charge to nominees.
