Amazon, Long Harbour, Tetenal Ltd and Shoe Zone all pledge support for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope initiative
The Big Sleep 2023 is the flagship annual fundraiser organised by Leicester-based homeless charity, The Bridge Homelessness to Hope. Businesses have been pledging their support for this year’s event, including Amazon, Tetenal, Shoe Zone and Long Harbour.
The annual fundraiser will take place on 28th March. Individuals and staff from businesses will be joined by staff and students from the University of Leicester and De Montfort University as they camp overnight to help support the vital work done by the charity.
Funds raised from this event will support services for Leicester’s homeless community.
The Bridge offers a breakfast service, access to hot showers, clothing and toiletries, washing and drying facilities, as well as mental and physical support.
Participants joining The Big Sleep will have basic items including cardboard, a sleeping bag and flasks, as well as a scarf, hat and gloves, along with the clothes on their back for warmth. This will help to simulate the conditions through which the homeless go. The event aims to offer some insights into the daily struggles and discomfort faced by the people experiencing homelessness and raise awareness of those conditions.
