As Coventry takes its place as UK City of Culture 2021, it is officially announced today that the city will benefit from a major investment by Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay, who will launch its 5,140 sq. ft restaurant in the city’s Cathedral Lanes, creating over 50 new jobs when it opens its doors in mid-August.
This is the first site in Coventry for Turtle Bay, which is renowned for its social, warm atmosphere and vibrant design, serving delicious Caribbean inspired dishes and signature cocktails throughout the day and into the evening. From jerk chicken to fiery goat curry, vegan dishes packed with punchy Caribbean flavour, delicious desserts and one of the best bottomless brunch offers out there – you’ll find something for everyone at Turtle Bay.
Memorable guest experience is one of the best things about visiting Turtle Bay and they are on the lookout for 50 of the city’s best hospitality talent. To support the recruitment drive for the new venue, Turtle Bay are hosting two “Audition Days” for potential team members, which will take place on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th June at the Ramada Hotel in Coventry. It’s expected that up to 60% of the jobs on offer at the venue will be recruited across these two days.
Carl Jones, Operations Manager at Turtle Bay Coventry, said: “We are very much looking forward to opening Turtle Bay in the heart of Coventry. It’s always exciting to launch somewhere new, but the fact that we’re coming into the city in the midst of its UK City of Culture year definitely adds to the excitement!”
“It will also be great to see the calibre of people we get along at our ‘Audition Days’ next month. We know this past year has been tough on a lot of people, but we also know that there are some exceptional people looking for their next role – and we want them to come and see us. At Turtle Bay, we’re really proud to be able to offer a wide variety of jobs within the new venue and can’t wait to meet everyone.”
Charmain Wright, Centre Manager at Cathedral Lanes, added: “Myself and the team at Cathedral Lanes are thrilled to be adding Turtle Bay to our little part of the city. It’s wonderful to see so many big-name restaurants sitting alongside our amazing independent businesses and helping to bring the city back to life again.”
