Popular Leicestershire pub, The Tap & Run, set to reopen after fire

A premium gastropub in Melton Mowbray will reopen its doors to the public on Monday 26 June 2023, after it was destroyed in a fire in June 2022.

The Tap and Run, located in Upper Broughton, Melton Mowbray, is gearing up to welcome its first customers in the coming weeks. £1.3million has been spent on restoring and renovating the pub following the fire, which broke out in the early hours of 11 June 2022 after laundry ignited in a tumble dryer.

The pub forms part of The Cat & Wickets Pub Company, owned by England cricketers Harry Gurney and Stuart Broad, and was the recipient of the Leicestershire Pub of the Year award in 2021. The majority of the original Tap and Run team will be returning to the venue, led by the expert management team of Jack Whitehead, Anna Mooney and Laura Symington.

Visitors will be able to experience a new look and feel ahead of its relaunch which is inspired by the lush countryside around the pub.
