The Lion at Farnsfield
Around 20 minutes north of Nottingham in the picturesque village of Farnsfield, Sherwood Forest. This recently refurbished pub and restaurant has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and cosy, chic decor, with quirky accents to complement the traditional building. The food is freshly cooked and fabulous, with a most delicious Sunday Dinner menu. Their thick-cut Roast Pork Loin is legendary and some of the best I’ve had (the crackling is unreal). If you’re really hungry, though, why not try their amazing Boss Hog Tray? A combination of Pulled-Pork, stuffing, roasties, pigs in blankets, cheese sauce and crispy crackling crumb that’s sure to satisfy even the biggest appetite!
The Railway at Lowdham
Nestled between the minster town of Southwell and Lowdham village, The Railway is an independent Gastro Pub. At its heart, this is a cosy, yet contemporary village pub with a roaring log fire in winter and garden terrace for al-fresco summer dining. Their Sunday menu changes frequently to keep dishes new and interesting. However, at all times the freshest and most delicious produce helps form their fabulously tasty food offering. I highly recommend their Rump of Beef, which is cooked to perfection!

Tamasha
When it comes to a unique dining experience, Mapperley-Based Tamasha is the perfect destination. Offering an Asian-fusion menu, with grills, tapas and cocktails, Tamasha is an increasingly popular (and very Instagrammable!) dining destination. In the spirit of fusion cuisine, Tamasha now offer Sunday Dinner options, all served with their own-recipe stuffing, roasted Bombay potatoes and rich Tamasha gravy. Paired with one of their stunningly presented cocktails, you’ve got a fantastically different Sunday lunch experience.
Annie’s Burger Shack
Looking for something fast, filling and fun? Look no further than city centre-based Annie’s Burger Shack and their famous Sunday Dinner Burger! Annie’s, once housed within the Old Angel Pub, has gone from strength to strength and is a hugely popular venue for all ages and backgrounds. All burgers are available as Vegan, Veggie or Meaty, including their Sunday Dinner offering; a sumptuous burger, topped with homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing ball, mini roasties and smothered in gravy. Tucked away in the corner of the world-famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, the Larwood & Voce is a light and airy pub, with an eclectic mix of furnishings and decor that has become a firm favourite with West Bridgford residents and fans of the local sports teams whose grounds are situated but a stone’s throw away. Offering tasty, traditional, hearty plates of food is their forte and they are set to launch their brand-new Sunday menu for the Autumn; all your traditional Sunday roast options with a hint of Gastro Pub finesse.

The Wine Room
Relative city-centre newcomer, The Wine Room, is perfect for those wanting a laid-back, leisurely lunch. This is their second restaurant offering, with the original based in Mapperley; the perfect place if you don’t feel like heading into the city on a Sunday afternoon. With a Tapas-inspired menu, why not enjoy their mouth-watering small plates to start (I’d highly recommend the Mushroom Croquettes and Bloody Mary Bruschetta). With a selection of expertly selected wines as an accompaniment, choose from Chicken, Pork Belly, Lamb, or Roast Butternut Wellington. To finish? Their churros are an absolute must and served with either chocolate or toffee sauce.
